    1. Banned books are forbidden fruits of literature Tempting and desirable.Years back I recall how eager I was to get hold of Satanic verses by Salman Rushdie than mend things with my ex.This book consciously scripts out a well researched list of the banned literary works from the early 20th century till the recent. It picks out a selected few titles and gives a brief summary of its content and censorship history. It is a wonderful read and quite informative I would have liked it if the authors could [...]

    2. This is a series There is also a volume of Literature suppressed on political grounds and literature suppressed on religious grounds I checked these out from the library and I am going to have to buy them I want to go crazy with the highlighter pen inside these books Lots of information here I am starting to think it should be a civic duty to read banned literature it is amazing how people are so eager to read books that they have not even read These are very good reference books.

    3. So I know that a read this specifically for a project that I was working on I was hoping to find books in the romance and erotica realm that were suppressed on sexual grounds but it seems that we as a society in the U.S are way concerned with sexual content in mainstream literature I find this very fascinating The books mentioned don t have sexual content as it s main focus yet they are being challenged in a way that romance novels and erotica aren t being challenged Fascinating.

    4. This was a really interesting read and a great resource It s also fascinating to see how the definition of obscene has evolved through the past 200 years This book presents the selected books in alphabetical order giving a synopsis and the history of it s banning I think I would have preferred an arrangement by date and country, perhaps even bundling some of the stories together, but that s just me.
