    1. I don t often read comedies or watch them for that matter I haven t watched a sitcom in years I m much drama oriented That being said, this book was wonderful Dark humor is my favorite style of comedy, and this book certainly fits into the dark humor genre This is a much different book than Fight for Your Long Day, which shares the same protagonist In fact, I enjoy this book quite a bit than the first novel which is saying something, because I liked that book a lot I started out reading slowly [...]

    2. Ho hum It is always slightly disappointing to get an ARC and not feel madly passionately about it I love the feeling of having been the first to read a great find.commend it to all tell the world I almost equally love being the first to read total crap save them one else need read Unfortunately, I feel slightly less than ambivalent about Auggie s Revenge It is a noir crime novel that sort of reminded me of Denis Johnson s Nobody Move Kudera tries very hard to be cute and intelligent, but often r [...]

    3. The thing I like best of what I ve read of Kudera s writing is how intermixed reasonableness and absurdity are The present book is a prime example I mean, the characters and what they do are completely ridiculous However, you wouldn t find normal people anywhere Their reasonableness and their absurdity are completely bound up together, bringing home just how insane our modern society really is It s smart, it s entertaining, and it s an engaging read Kudera certainly has a keenly insightful grip [...]

    4. I don t know what it is about contemporary first early novels that invites the picaresque, plot thin, multi charactered rambleathon Broom of the System, White Teeth, Rude Vile Pigs but I love it Some people ie not me have been wont to call them big shits everything the writer has thought of up until the novel s advent is included, clearing the pipes What else do we expect Novelists need to know what kind of novelist they are, and it s wise to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks This [...]

    5. Alex Kudera s follow up to his adjunct novel Fight For Your Long Day, Auggie s Revenge once again returns to the streets of Philadelphia Adjunct Instructor of Philosophy Michael Vittinger is dating a sexy former student, befriended by angry pick up artist Auggie and con artist malcontent Jonny November Auggie s Revenge focuses on Michael s life outside the classroom and the absurdity of being over educated in a dollar obsessed society As Bruce Springsteen wrote in Atlantic City Down here it s ju [...]
